Spessartite (Spessartine) Garnet: Transparent yellowish Orange to reddish orange. It became widely available when a discovery was made in Namibia recently and then again in Nigeria. These stones became known in the trade as Mandarin Garnets because of their color. It is found in Brazil, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka as well as Australia, Burma, India, Isreal, Madagascar, the USA, and Pakistan. They are the birthstone for January and Aquarius as well as the 2nd Wedding Anniversary.
